The 5 Jeans You'll Be Wearing This Year
Denim. The everyday staple omnipresent on even the most elite fashion runways - with iterations seen in powerhouse brands across Europe and beyond. We're loving the new styles injecting a sartorial edge into our day-to-day wardrobes with modern cuts and styles giving denim a 2020 update. From cropped culottes, flares, and vintage straights making a stylish comeback - we've rounded up the five biggest jean trends we will see in shop windows (and our closets) this season.
1. Vintage Revival
This season there's been a resurgence in vintage inspired washes in high waist, straight leg shapes this season. Think Rachel Green from Friends. This year we sacrifice stretch for rigidity for a classic look that's straight from the closets of 90s supermodels. We love AGOLDE take on vintage revival with the Riley Straight Crop seamlessly combining contemporary finishes with a vintage look and feel. The jean features a revolutionary weave, incorporating just enough stretch vertically through the leg - for comfortable and stylish jean that moves with you and won't lose its shape.
2. Wide Leg and Wonderful
Whilst our beloved skinny leg jeans continue to reign supreme, we're welcoming a new wave of experimental shapes to diversify and elevate our denim wardrobes. Introducing, the wide leg jean. A contemporary take on an old school classic. Newer cropped, high-waisted styles are designed to nip you in at the waist, and lengthen your limbs to dizzying heights. These jeans are light-weight, tailored, and slightly ridid making them incredibly comfortable to wear. Pair with fun blousess and knits tucked in at the waist for a modern look which gives you an incredible shape.
3. The New Boyfriend
Out with the old, in with the new. Old faithful gets a bit of a revamp with boyfriend styles sitting a little higher, and in ultra-comfortable mid-weight stretch denim. Borrowed from the boys, the boyfriend jean is a relaxed, loose fit jean slung lower on the hips for an ultra-cool off duty style. Add a feminine blouse or oversized knit for a fashion forward look perfect for the weekend. Our favourites? We can't go past our Frame Le Garcon (pictured), Citizens of Humanity Emerson, AG Ex Boyfriend or new to Trilogy - Mother Tom Cat in Let's Kick It...
4. Neutral Tones
The comfort and practicality of denim is expertly merged with the smart, polished look of trousers. Think earthy tones awash with shades of khaki, tobacco, taupe, and caramel. Everyday denim shapes are given a chic sartorial-inspired update in ultra-wearable hues perfect for everday of the week. Pair with classic tees and trainers for ultra-cool weekend wear or smarten it up with heels, a blouse, and a tailored jacket for a look perfect for stylish comfort in the office.
5. Raw Hems
Perfectly imperfect. Classic denim shapes get a modern, edgy update with deconstructed hems for a little interest. Whilst classic styles and washes will always reign supreme when it comes to premium denim we are embracing bold, edgier details for a voguish twist on your favourite shapes. Play with the the juxtapositions of old meets new and opt for skinny jeans paired with polished accessories and slick tailoring - think heels, silken blouses, and sharp tailoring.
